Saint Vrain River Restoration

Lyons, Colorado

The 2013 summer floods created havoc along the Saint Vrain River outside of Lyons, Colorado.

Waterscapes Inc. was contacted by local water engineers to rebuild an adjoining flood-damaged riverbank for the homeowner and to create an incredible living space with multiple levels of patios, steps, awnings, a tributary waterfall, and resident-accessible private kayak launching.

Over 800-tons of local Lyons Red Flagstone slabs were used to create the skeleton walls. It was imperative that the walls were excavated and buried up to 8-feet deep below the water surface to attach to bedrock so that it would withstand the inevitable future seasonal flooding. Several indigenous native plantings were utilized to secure the ground erosion. Several patio and sitting areas were created to enjoy the pastoral sounds of this beautiful and peaceful river.
